I am sharing with you bits and pieces of my painting process for these magnificent Magnolias.
When painting with soft pastels, I usually start from the left upper quadrant to the right, then the lower quads. This is to avoid too much smudging and making a mess.
I work under a huge LED light even in the morning at the studio, but I also embrace the natural sunbeams through my window.
The bees were a last minute add, the icing on the cake, and I’m happy that I did. Beetles would have been more appropriate because they play a vital role in pollination of magnolias, but I’m partial to the near extinct bumblebees. God’s little creatures do make flowers and plants come alive!
