The Magnificent Magnolias in Pastel

I am sharing with you bits and pieces of my painting process for these magnificent Magnolias.

When painting with soft pastels, I usually start from the left upper quadrant to the right, then the lower quads. This is to avoid too much smudging and making a mess.

I work under a huge LED light even in the morning at the studio, but I also embrace the natural sunbeams through my window.

The bees were a last minute add, the icing on the cake, and I’m happy that I did. Beetles would have been more appropriate because they play a vital role in pollination of magnolias, but I’m partial to the near extinct bumblebees. God’s little creatures do make flowers and plants come alive!

This short video is for you. Please feel free to share and tag your friends. It would be such a tremendous honor if I have enabled one artistic soul today.
